Frequently asked questions
- Do I need to install anything?
- No. The tool uses the built-in browser Screen Capture API. Works in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari.
- Can I record with audio?
- Yes. You can capture microphone audio, tab audio, or both together.
- What format is the recording saved in?
- MP4 (H.264 with AAC) where the browser can record it, otherwise WebM with VP9 or VP8 and Opus. When the take is WebM, a Download MP4 button converts it on your device with ffmpeg first.
- Is there a time limit?
- No fixed limit, but long recordings consume significant memory. Keep under 30 minutes for best results.
- Why does my recording have no sound?
- System audio is captured only when you share a Chrome tab. Sharing a whole screen or a single window records no system sound, so enable the Microphone option before you start if you need narration.
- Can I pause in the middle of a recording?
- Yes. Pause stops adding data and freezes the timer, and Resume continues into the same file rather than starting a new one.
