Frequently asked questions

What schemes are supported?
Shades & tints (9 lightness steps), monochromatic, analogous (5 colors at 30° apart), complementary (180° opposite), triadic (3 evenly spaced), tetradic (4 evenly spaced).
Which scheme should I use?
Shades for backgrounds and text hierarchy. Analogous for harmonious feel. Complementary for high-contrast accents. Triadic for vibrant playful designs.
Can I copy the colors?
Yes. Click any swatch to copy its hex code to the clipboard. Paste directly into Figma, CSS, or your design tool.
Why does my brand color look "off" in the palette?
The HSL color space is not perceptually uniform. Equal hue shifts can look uneven (especially around yellows). For perceptually-tuned palettes, look at OKLCH-based tools.
What exactly does the shades scheme produce?
Nine steps at fixed lightness values from 95% down to 10%, keeping the hue and saturation of the base colour, which gives a usable tint scale for surfaces and text.
Do I get the same palette every time?
Yes. Every scheme is a fixed hue rotation or lightness step from the base colour, with no randomness, so the same starting hex always produces the same swatches.
