- Which browsers work?
- All of them. Chrome and Edge use the built-in BarcodeDetector API; Safari, Firefox, and anything else decode with a bundled JavaScript decoder, so iPhone and Android both work.
- Can I scan a saved image?
- Yes. Press Scan an image and pick a screenshot or photo. That path needs no camera permission at all.
- Camera privacy?
- The video stream is processed entirely in your browser. No frames, images, or decoded text are sent to a server.
- Camera won't start?
- Camera access requires HTTPS and explicit permission. Check your browser's address bar for a blocked-camera icon, grant permission, then press Start. If the camera is unavailable, scan a saved image instead.
- Nothing is detected?
- Fill more of the frame with the code, hold steady, and avoid glare. Very low contrast or heavily damaged codes may not resolve; try a photo of the code instead of a live scan.
